Magic and mystery is amongst us. We speak to you, our friends of foreign tongues, in a way that is not about understanding. Life is a play of mirrors that exists only as a reflection of and in each other. Look at us and see yourselves.<\/p>
Two years ago, none of us knew each other. Helena lived alone in a forest, searching for peace. Then she left for war, to report about Ukraine, trying to make sense of humanity. Amanda was on the run from the Brazilian mafia. With nothing but some corn in her backpack, she sold her soul to become Belgian. Loeke was living on top of a medical wasteland and became acquainted with a bizarre heron who revealed to her some kind of philosopher's stone. She has spoken five languages ever since. Finally, Sexy Sybe was still living like a dog, chewing his bone among his dog siblings (he grew up in a pack of 17).It would take us far too long to explain how these weirdly unrelated people ended up becoming Maria Iskariot. Nevertheless, it happened. Helena was saved from war, Loeke from becoming radioactive, Amanda found her soul again, and Sybe - well Sybe is still being saved.<\/p>
Our story together has only just begun. After 180 shows in two years. Kidnapping Humo\u2019s neon sign while successfully bargaining for water, cheese sandwiches, and more diversity, being asked to tour the Netherlands with Hang Youth going viral with a live video and receiving messages from people all over the world asking us to come to the US, South Africa, Indonesia, Nepal, Chile- being invited to tour the UK Germany, and Denmark with Tropical Fuck Storm, now having our own German and French booker and a Spanish label. And all this with songs in Flemish. It\u2019s more than we could have ever imagined.<\/p>
We are grateful for all the magic and unpredictable, truthful friendship that has emerged from this.
